The name Karim Benzema has become a synonym for ‘striker' at Real Madrid over the last 14 years. Since the Frenchman left the squad and signed for the Saudi Arabian Al-Ittihad, however, this era has finished. It is believed that Los Blancos will sign another world-class forward in the upcoming weeks but, if the season starts today, the only striker in the squad would be Joselu, a 33-year-old Spaniard who arrived on loan from Espanyol.

Joselu’s fascinating professional trip

We must keep in mind that Joselu has now joined Real Madrid. He played and made his professional debut at Celta in the 2008 — 09 season. Even though Joselu primarily played for Celta B, Real Madrid was persuaded to signal him by his performances.

Joselu arrived at Real Madrid in 2009, but he was never given a chance to play for one of the best soccer teams in the world. Joselu played for Real Madrid B and Celta for the majority of his three years under a deal with Los Blancos, but oddly, he scored two goals both times despite playing for less than 20 minutes total. Jose Mourinho, the manager at the time, had Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain during those times, so it makes sense that Joselu missed out on opportunities.

Joselu would switch clubs seven times over the next ten years in Germany, England, and Spain before having a breakout year in Espanyol in the 2022 — 2023 campaign.

Joselu finished as the LaLiga’s third-best target scoring, behind Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema, with 16 goals from 34 league games. Joselu received another chance at his youth dream club as a result of that.

Joselu’s response to the deal he made with Real Madrid

Joselu stated,” This move was merely finalized a few days ago ,” following the agreement he reached with Real Madrid. You have no idea how I felt when I learned about the attention. If my wife and kids may pardon me for saying that, today might be one of the happiest days of my life. I had the opportunity to make my initial department debut at the largest club in the world, and I’ve always wanted to go back. I’m pleased to be returning because of the accomplishments I made over the past few years.

Joselu will undoubtedly be motivated to demonstrate Real Madrid’s error in selling him to Hoffenheim 11 years earlier. Even so, it is improbable to believe that when the season begins in a few days, he will be the only winger for Real Madrid. The most interesting football news from the earlier days was that Kylian Mbappe was attempting to join Real Madrid. Real Madrid may not have to wait another year for the excellent Frenchman, but Los Blancos undoubtedly have set replacements. Dusan Vlahovic, Richarlison, and Jamie Vardy are a few protesters who offer substitutes.

Joselu’s playing type

What Joselu has that stands out from the rest of the LaLiga strikers are physical presence, heading, and finishing. Standing at 192 cm, he is not among the fastest on the field, but his smart movement in the box makes him dangerous. Also, Joselu is excellent at holding up play, linking with teammates, and creating goal-scoring opportunities for others.

It is difficult to believe Joselu, who is 33 years old, to develop into more than a circular player in the winger position. Even so, he could also leave a significant impression in the upcoming year even if his shows at Espanyol are repeated.
