On Tuesday, Zambia and Cameroon will engage in a friendly yet competitive pre-match in preparation for the forthcoming AFCON.

Both countries are eager to leave a significant impression before the AFCON starts, probably in an exciting friendly competition.

Since July, Zambia has had a strong performance, winning six out of their last nine matches and only losing two. Despite this, they suffered a 2:1 loss to Niger in their latest World Cup qualification match in November, a setback for Avram Grant’s team. Additionally, in six of their nine games since July, both teams have scored (BTTS), and at least three goals have been scored in the same number of matches.

Cameroon is slated as the pre-match favourites in the upcoming Tuesday’s friendly fixture, with predictions also favouring the Indomitable Lions to perform well in the forthcoming AFCON. However, Rigobert Song’s team has been struggling with form, managing only two wins in their last nine matches over the past year. The team’s defensive frailties are evident, maintaining only two clean sheets in their previous nine games.

In their previous encounters, these countries have typically seen a high number of goals. In their last six matches since 2001, both teams have scored (BTTS). Additionally, in five of these games, at least three goals were scored, including Cameroon’s 2:1 victory in a friendly match that they played most recently in 2019.

Given recent form, and the H2H record, I´m hopeful we can see both nations scoring on Tuesday at an attractive price. While both countries are set to rotate their selections ahead of the AFCON kick-off later this week, I still fancy both to score with a low-scoring draw, perhaps the most likely expected outcome.
