RB Leipzig will host Real Madrid at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig for the first leg of the Champions League 1/8 Finals on Tuesday evening.
RB Leipzig rapidly ascended to become one of Germany’s elite teams, placing among the top four in six of the previous seven seasons. They also clinched the German Cup in the last two seasons. However, this season they won’t be able to replicate their past success, as Wolfsburg ousted them early in the tournament. In the Bundesliga, they’re performing decently, currently in 5th place with 37 points, and only three points adrift of the Champions League positions. Nevertheless, their performance has dipped significantly since the winter break, making their upcoming UCL match a challenging event.
Last season was a disappointing one for Real Madrid, with their only victory being the Copa del Rey &— a far cry from the achievements expected of such a global football powerhouse. However, this season, Los Blancos seem to have upped their game. Their recent triumph over Girona puts them on the path to potentially clinching the La Liga title. Currently, they lead the league with 61 points, a comfortable five points ahead of second-placed Girona. Their only stumbling block this season was their Cup elimination at the hands of Atletico Madrid. Apart from that, Los Blancos are delivering a commendable performance this season.
RB Leipzig vs Real Madrid pick: Real Madrid to win
RB Leipzig has been performing poorly since the winter break, with three losses in five matches. Despite their success in the UCL, it must be acknowledged that their group was not particularly challenging. However, their weaknesses were exposed when they were completely outmatched by a stronger team like Manchester City, both on their home ground and away.
Despite serious injury issues in their defense, Real Madrid is still managing to perform well. They’ve been in stellar form, claiming victories in 11 out of their last 13 games, only stumbling against Atletico Madrid once in the Cup and once in the league. In the UCL, they’ve been nothing short of phenomenal, winning all six matches they’ve played.
We are of the opinion that Real Madrid is overall a superior team and even with injuries, we anticipate a victory against the currently underperforming RB Leipzig.

RB Leipzig team news
Amadou Haidara, who missed the last four games due to his participation in AFCON, has returned to Germany. However, reliable media sources report that he has incurred a knee injury, which may sideline him for approximately a month.
Coach Marco Rose addressed the media following a 2:2 stalemate against Augsburg. He stated that his team had multiple opportunities to pull ahead with a 3:1 lead, but their missed chances resulted in counterattacks. “From a broad perspective, I believe the draw is fair. This is evident in the game’s statistics,” added Rose.

Real Madrid team news
In the preceding match against Girona, Coach Ancelotti found himself without a genuine central back due to injuries to Eder Militao, David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, and Nacho Fernandez. As a result, Aurelien Tchouameni and Carvajal were required to start in defensive positions. They may also be part of the starting lineup in the upcoming match against RB Leipzig. Furthermore, Thibaut Courtois will be out for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury.
In the previous game against Girona, Jude Bellingham sustained an ankle sprain, forcing him to exit the field in the 57th minute. Despite this, Ancelotti expressed that it’s highly probable Bellingham will be fit for the upcoming UCL match against RB Leipzig.
