The Bulgarian Second Division returns this weekend with PFC 1929 Lokomotiv Sofia taking on Vratsa Botev at Stadion Lokomotiv.

Both of these groups suffered three consecutive losses as they concluded their respective Second Division activities in a disappointing manner. ,

But, PFC has had a much better pre-season, recording four straight victories and scoring 11 goals. ,

Botev’s bad performance from the previous year appears to have persisted into this new plan, with the visitors dropping two of three pre-season games, including a humiliating 3:0 loss to Cypriots APOEL two weeks ago. ,

Last year, Botev were mainly subpar on the road. The customers lost nine of their last 11 ahead group activities of the time, losing 13 of 17 game overall. In those 17 activities, Botev also leaked a staggering 44 goals. ,

Although Lokomotiv Sofia was unable to get any of their last five home games in the Second Division of the previous season, Monday’s hosts do have a solid record in this fixture.

The h2h statistics do, in fact, show that PFC has defeated Botev in six earlier home matches since 2017, winning five of them and losing only one. It’s interesting to note that the same 1 : 0 scoreline applied to all three of their most recent victories.

We do recommend small stakes because it can be difficult to read too much into either side’s form on this first day of the season. But, PFC may be able to claim an opening day victory at Stadion Lokomotiv given their h2h history and Botev’s dismal away history.
