Czech Republic, following a devastating loss in Albania last Thursday, are now confronted with a crucial Euro 2024 qualifier against the Faroe Islands at Doosan Aréna.

Czechia, currently ranked third in Group E, must secure a victory in their upcoming match against Faroe Islands on Sunday, following their disappointing 3-0 defeat in Tirana.

Head coach Jaroslav Šilhavý is facing increasing pressure as his team has only managed to secure one victory in their past four qualifiers. Despite being one point behind Poland, the hosts have a game in hand which could still enable them to qualify without relying on assistance from other teams. However, it seems that their upcoming match against Poland in November will be crucial, as Albania appears to be the frontrunner for the top spot, surprising as it may be.

Even though the Czechs have been struggling recently, it would come as a huge shock if they were to lose more points in this qualifier. The Faroes team comes to Plzen with a poor record, having lost seven out of their last nine matches, including a 5-0 defeat against Czechia in a friendly match last year.

In a more recent event, the visitors experienced a 2-0 defeat in their own stadium against Poland last Thursday. HÃ¥kan Ericson’s team has now endured five consecutive losses in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, following a 1-1 draw with Moldova on their first matchday.

Since 1998, the Faroes have only won one out of 29 European Championship qualifiers and lost 27. Despite being considered massive underdogs, the Islanders are no longer the easy targets they used to be. In fact, in their last 11 away Euro qualifying losses, they have only conceded a maximum of three goals in 8 of those matches.

Given the current crisis faced by the Czechs and the Faroes’ reputation as stubborn opponents, I anticipate a home victory with a low-scoring outcome. It is unlikely that the hosts will score more than three goals.
