Birmingham is in its 13th straight season in the Championship, consistently landing in the bottom half of the league table for the past seven seasons, narrowly avoiding relegation. This season is proving to be no exception. Currently, the Blues sit 19th with 32 points from 30 matches, a mere three points from the danger zone, despite having played one game less. Despite efforts to change the team’s downward trajectory by replacing the coach, the move was not successful. After an initially promising start under coach Tony Mowbray, they suffered three consecutive losses.

Last season saw Blackburn Rovers fighting for the playoffs, but their performance this season is far from satisfactory. They currently sit in the 17th position with just 36 points, which is closer to the relegation zone than the playoffs. Even though they are 11 points away from the playoffs, they still have one game in hand. Despite their current ranking, there is potential for improvement if they can produce consistent positive results under the guidance of the new coach. However, their defense needs significant improvement as they are currently one of the weakest teams in the Championship in this aspect.
