Since returning to Serie A 11 years ago, Torino has remained mostly a mid-table team. They secured the 10th position in the last two seasons, accumulating 53 and 50 points respectively. This season as well, they are trending towards a similar finish, averaging around 1.4 points per game. As of now, they hold the 10th spot with 36 points, eight points short of the 6th position, which qualifies for European spots. However, there’s a possibility for Torino, commonly referred to as Toro, to make it to Europe from the 7th position. This is because the Cup winner is likely to be a top league team, and Toro is only five points behind the 7th spot. A victory over La Viola, currently in 7th place, would significantly narrow this gap for Toro.
In the previous season, Fiorentina clinched the 8th spot in Serie A, falling short of qualifying for Europe by seven points. They nearly secured a spot in Europe via the Europa Conference League, but were defeated by West Ham in the final. A similar scenario played out in the Coppa Italia, where they were runners-up to Inter. However, due to a one-year ban imposed on Juve for financial misconduct, Fiorentina found an opportunity to play in the ECL. This year, they are repeating a similar pattern, as they’ve made it to the 1/8 Finals in the ECL, the domestic Cup Semi-Finals, but are once again just shy of the European spots in Serie A. Currently, they occupy the 7th position with 41 points, just three points behind 6th-placed Roma.
Torino vs Fiorentina pick: Under 2.5 goals
In Serie A, Torino is the top team to bet on for this type of wager, having only eight games exceeding 2.5 goals out of 26 rounds &— a mere 31%! Their performance is slightly better at home, owing to their exceptional defensive record. They’ve only conceded eight goals in 13 rounds, making them the second-best team in Italy, surpassed only by Inter who conceded two goals less.
Fiorentina’s poor performance during away games is disheartening, despite being arguably a stronger team than Torino. Their disappointing road record is a major concern. Their victory in just one out of the last nine away games, with a mere six goals, reflects their struggles. Considering Torino is the second-best defensive team in Serie A, scoring against them will indeed be tough for Fiorentina. Furthermore, Fiorentina generally keeps the scoring low during away games, resulting in under 2.5 goals in nine out of the past 11 road games &— a significant 82%.
In their initial head-to-head match this season, Fiorentina emerged victorious with a 1:0 win at Stadio Artemio Franchi. There weren’t many opportunities for scoring, with a combined expected goals (xG) of 1.05. Furthermore, less than three goals were scored in three of the last four head-to-head encounters. Given these factors, we firmly recommend placing a bet for under 2.5 goals for this Serie A match.

Torino team news
Matteo Lovato, a central defender, was injured in the last game against AS Roma and was forced to leave the field after just 13 minutes. Given that Perr Schuurs and Alessandro Buongiorno, two other key central defenders, are also injured, it is highly probable that Koffi Djidji, Saba Sazonov, and Ricardo Rodriguez will make up the starting defensive line.
In addition to the previously mentioned defenders, Adrian Tameze and Mergim Vojvoda will also continue to be out due to their injuries. They are both expected to make a return in mid-March.

Fiorentina team news
Lucas Martinez Quarta has recently been added to the injury list. The 27-year-old defender was absent in the previous match against Lazio due to an abdominal issue which necessitated a hospital check-up. Italian media reports suggest that his condition isn’t severe, however, his participation in the forthcoming match is uncertain. Despite this, Fiorentina has a strong defensive line-up with promising alternatives like Luca Ranieri and Nikola Milenkovic who are expected to start.
In addition to Martinez, the team will also be without Dodo, Gaetano Cstrovilli, Christian Kouame, and reserve goalkeeper Oliver Christensen because of injuries.
Following the Torino match, Fiorentina is set to compete against Maccabi Haifa in the Europa Conference League. However, with a five-day gap between these games, we anticipate no team rotations from coach Vincenzo Italiano.
