Four days after advancing to the Quarter Finals of the Champions League, Real Madrid will pursue their La Liga title campaign against Celta Vigo, a team facing relegation, at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid is having a stellar season. They’ve already claimed the Super Cup and are performing exceptionally in the UCL. They’re leading in La Liga, with a seven-point lead over Girona, who is in second place. Currently, they’re the leading contender to win the title, with bookies offering odds of only 1.03 for Los Blancos to clinch the championship. Their only underperformance was in the Cup, where they were defeated by Atletico Madrid in the 1/8 Finals. Therefore, the only trophy they won last season, the Copa del Rey, is no longer in contention.

Celta’s performance has been steadily declining over the past few seasons. Once a team that competed for European spots, they have now become a potential candidate for relegation. Despite finishing 13th last year, their position was not as secure as it seemed, as they were a mere three points away from the danger zone. At present, Celta Vigo stands at 17th place, just five points clear of the relegation zone. Although numerous football analysts argue that they are underperforming and are superior to the teams at the bottom of the league’s table, their results do not reflect this.

Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo pick: Under 3.5 goals

Despite being tied as the second-highest scoring team in the league with 56 goals (averaging 2.07 per game), Real Madrid’s offense has been underperforming in recent matches. They’ve only managed to net six goals across their last five games in all competitions, a figure significantly lower than their usual rate. Conversely, their defense has been impressively consistent throughout the season. A combination of a slightly underperforming offense (by their own high standards) and a solid defensive performance has resulted in Real Madrid exceeding 3.5 goals in only one of their last five matches. The absence of Jude Bellingham will further impact their offensive capabilities, making their attack less potent.

In La Liga, Celta managed to keep their goals under 3.5 in 74% of their matches (20 of 27 rounds). They have shown a lackluster offensive performance throughout the season, but their scoring has improved in recent matches. However, we remain skeptical about their ability to score in away games against Spain’s top defensive team.

In the last head-to-head match in Vigo, Los Blancos secured a 1:0 victory. Moreover, less than four goals were scored in three out of the last four head-to-head matches. Taking into account these past matches and all the other factors, we believe that placing a bet for under 3.5 goals is the most promising option for this La Liga match.

Real Madrid team news

Jude Bellingham received a two-game suspension following a red card in the prior La Liga match against Valencia. Despite scoring a late 3:2 goal against Valencia, the game was called to an end just before the goal by the referee. The English player’s protest resulted in his suspension. Real Madrid made an attempt to contest the ban, however, the federation dismissed it.

David Alaba, Edemr Militao, and Thibaut Courtois will remain sidelined due to long-term injuries that caused them to miss previous games.
