Monaco missed out on securing Europe last year after losing their final three games and falling short by just two points. This year, the Red and Whites had a strong start in Ligue 1, securing the top spot after the initial nine rounds. However, their performance has been inconsistent since then, and they now sit in 3rd place, 13 points behind France’s top team and their upcoming opponent, PSG. Additionally, Monaco was eliminated from the Cup by National division team, Rouen. As the Ligue 1 title seems increasingly out of reach, their focus must now be on achieving a top-three finish to ensure their participation in next season’s Champions League.
PSG have established themselves as a powerhouse in French football, clinifying the championship title in nine out of the last eleven seasons. The Parisians are currently enjoying another successful season and are the unambiguous favorites in the domestic leagues. Nevertheless, their primary objective is to finally clinch the Champions League title. So far, their journey is on track, having secured a 2:0 victory against Real Sociedad in the first leg of the 1/8 Finals. In France, there’s no denying they are the country’s top team.
Monaco vs PSG pick: PSG to win
Monaco’s performance has been underwhelming recently, with just two victories in their last six matches. While these wins were against respectable teams, Lens and Nice, their overall performance was not particularly impressive. We question whether these types of performances will be sufficient to secure favourable results against France’s top team. Their home performance was particularly poor, securing only one point in four games. It cannot be argued that they had a challenging schedule.
There’s no disputing that PSG reigns supreme in France once more. They’ve secured victories in 16 out of 23 Ligue 1 games, a winning percentage of 70%. Interestingly, they perform better on the road than on their home turf. Recently, PSG has demonstrated exceptional performance away from home, winning five consecutive matches and scoring at least two goals in each game.
During the initial head-to-head match of this season at Parc des Princes, PSG dominated Monaco with a 5:2 victory. However, we anticipate a tighter competition for the upcoming game at Stade Louis II in Monaco, though we still predict another triumph for the Parisians.

Monaco team news
Thilo Kehrer, after serving his one-game suspension in the previous match against Lens, will be available for selection. The 27-year-old defender, who joined from West Ham in the winter transfer window, has swiftly become a crucial part of the starting lineup due to injuries and players participating in the AFCON. Conversely, key midfielder Denis Zakaria will be serving a suspension following an accumulation of yellow cards.
Mohamed Camara, Ismail Jakobs, Vanderson, Krepin Diatta, and Breel Embolo, the players who missed the previous games, will continue to be sidelined due to injuries.

PSG team news
The team is expected to have no new injuries, however, those who were absent in prior games are likely to stay benched: Presnel Kimpembe, Layvin Kurzawa, Sergio Rico, and Milan Skriniar. Concurrently, Marquinhos was absent from the previous match against Rennes due to a calf injury, and his participation in the forthcoming game is uncertain. Given that PSG has an important Champions League match following the game against Monaco, it’s likely he will continue to be benched.
Recently, it has become clear that Kylian Mbappe will not renew his contract with PSG. As a result, coach Luis Enrique benched him for the Nantes match and substituted him during the Rennes match. Enrique justified his decision by stating that the team needs to adapt to playing without their star player.
