- Date: Wednesday, 27th March 2024
- Kickoff: 17:30 UTC / 18:30 CET
- Venue: Bluechip-Arena (Meuselwitz)
Following their victories in the State Cup Semi-finals, Meuselwitz and Babelsberg are set to clash in the 18th round of the Regionalliga Nordost. The match will be held at the Bluechip-Arena in Meuselwitz.
Over the past three years, Meuselwitz has predominantly been near the bottom of the league table, dangerously close to the relegation zone. However, this year they are performing decently, currently standing at 13th place with a comfortable 13-point lead from relegation. Given that only one team faces relegation this year, Meuselwitz is not in immediate threat. Furthermore, they have been performing exceptionally well in the Landespokal Thüringen and are on the brink of making history. If they secure a win against Carl Zeiss Jena in the final in May, they will earn a spot in next season’s DFB Pokal.
Since joining the league in the 2013/14 season, Babelsberg is having one of their best seasons so far. Currently, they are in fourth place with 43 points, however, they are 12 points behind the top spot with only nine rounds remaining, making it difficult for them to close the gap. Their poor away game record is the main reason for their 12-point gap from Greisfwald, as they average just 1.25 points per game on the road, compared to 2.15 at home. Babelsberg, like their opponents, has also won the semi-final match in the Brandenburgischer Landespokal and will compete against Cottbus in the finals.
Meuselwitz vs Babelsberg pick: Both teams to score
Meuselwitz has proven to be a formidable home team, scoring in nearly 70% of their games, or nine out of 13. Including the Cup game, the team has netted 12 goals in their last four matches. Given their scoring record and Babelsberg’s lackluster defense on the road, we strongly believe Meuselwitz will score in the upcoming match. However, Babelsberg should not be underestimated. Despite one loss in their last six matches across all competitions, they have consistently scored in each of the other five games. Considering they are playing against one of the weaker teams, we anticipate Babelsberg will likely score on the road.
In three out of the last four league games of Meuselwitz, both teams managed to score. Similarly, both teams scored in four out of the last five league games of Babelsberg. In their previous head-to-head match, Babelsberg emerged victorious with a 2:1 score. Given these statistics, we predict that both teams will score in the upcoming Regionalliga Nordost match.

Babelsberg team news
Following a 3:0 victory against MSV Neuruppin and clinching the finals of the Brandenburgischer Landespokal against Cottbus, Coach Markus Zschiesche addressed the press. Even though they had a significant win, he was critical of his team, asserting they should’ve scored at least two to three more goals. “It took quite a while for the 3-0 win to materialize,” he further commented.
Midfielder Emir Can Gencel will serve a one-game suspension after receiving his fifth yellow card against Chemnitzer.
