Fulham have shown considerable stability since their arrival in the Premier League. In the previous season, they secured the 10th position, which placed them closer to the European spots rather than the relegation zone. This season, the Cottagers appear to be maintaining their mid-table position. Currently, they sit at 12th place with 32 points, a comfortable 12 points away from the relegation zone, despite having played an additional game. They seem to be performing significantly better than the teams at the bottom of the league, and it is unlikely that they will be drawn into a fight for relegation, particularly when considering their upcoming fixtures.
Under De Zerbi’s guidance, Brighton has emerged as one of the most stable teams in the Premier League. They finished 6th last season, securing a place in Europe for the first time in their 122-year history. Their performance in the Europa League has also been commendable, making it to the 1/8 Finals where they are set to play against AS Roma, five days post their game with Fulham. With 39 points, the Seagulls are currently in a comfortable 7th place in the Premier League. Their recent performances, however, have been lackluster, leading to a 1:0 defeat against Wolves in the FA Cup Quarter Finals. This might, however, prove to be a blessing in disguise for their European journey, considering their squad depth isn’t sufficient to handle numerous games.
Fulham vs Brighton pick: Over 2.5 goals
Last month, Fulham only participated in high-scoring games, with over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last four matches. Both teams managed to score in every game. Throughout the season, Fulham has exhibited excellent performance when launching attacks from the flanks when under pressure from their opponents. This strategy might be employed in their upcoming match against Brighton.
Brighton is recognized for their attractive, attack-driven style of play, which frequently results in high-scoring matches. Out of 26 Premier League games, there were more than 2.5 goals in 17 of them. With an average of 3.5 goals per game, they rank third in this category. Their offensive capabilities are impressive, but their defensive performance leaves much to be desired. They are one of the weakest teams in terms of defense, only managing to keep a clean sheet in three out of the 26 rounds played so far!
Taking into account the past games of Fulham and Brighton’s aggressive attack strategy, we anticipate witnessing a minimum of three goals, with a high probability of both teams contributing to the score.
