This week, RB Leipzig will pursue their quest for a spot in next season’s Champions League as they confront FC Köln on their home ground.
Köln has managed to avoid relegation easily in the past two seasons, however, the current scenario seems challenging for the Billy Goats. Timo Schultz’s team is barely above the automatic relegation spots, largely due to their performance at home. Köln has only secured victory in one out of their last eight games at the RheinEnergieStadion and is expected to have a tough match against Leipzig this Friday.
RB Leipzig, another team from Germany’s top-tier league, is experiencing a challenging season. Although they kicked off the season with a victory against Bayern in the DFB Super Cup final in August, their performance has been inconsistent ever since. The most recent setback for Leipzig occurred in the Champions League, where they were defeated by Real Madrid in the round of 16. In addition, they have been eliminated from the DFB Cup.
FC Köln vs RB Leipzig Betting Tips: Under 3.5 goals
Köln’s home wins this season have been sparse, but their recent performance against RB Leipzig at the RheinEnergieStadion has been commendable. The Billy Goats have not lost any of their last three matches against the visitors at this venue, with one win and two draws to their credit. Each of these three games concluded with less than 3.5 goals.
Koln’s recent games have not been especially entertaining. In six out of the last seven Bundesliga games, the hosts have ended with two or fewer goals. I surmise Friday’s game won’t deviate much from this trend. To play it safe, I’m opting for the Under 3.5 option.

RB Leipzig team news
Lukas Klostermann, a defender for RB Leipzig, is expected to miss the upcoming Friday game because of an injury. He had to leave the field before half-time in their victory against Gladbach last month and his return to the game is not anticipated in the near future.
Marco Rose, the head coach, has no other pressing issues ahead of the trip to the Rhein Energie Stadion except for Amadou Haidara, David Raum, and Loïs Openda being one yellow card away each from a suspension.
