Just a month and a half ago, Atalanta beat AC Milan 2:1 in the Coppa Italia Quarter-Finals at San Siro. Now, Rossoneri are set for a rematch against Atalanta in Serie A, once more on their home turf.
AC Milan has had a strong season in Serie A, but winning the title seems like a tall order, especially with their city rivals, Inter, having an outstanding season. At present, the Rossoneri are in third place in Serie A, trailing Inter by 11 points despite having played an extra game. Their chances of securing a title this season took a hit when Atalanta eliminated them from the Cup, leaving the Europa League as their only remaining opportunity for silverware. The bookies currently rank them as the third most likely team to win the EL trophy, behind only Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen.
Atalanta has a solid reputation as one of the leading teams in Serie A from past years. Continuing their excellent performance, La Dea are once again having an outstanding season across all competitions. They have successfully secured their positions in the Europa League 1/8 Finals and the Coppa Italia Semi-Finals, while currently standing at 4th place in the Serie A, with 45 points from 24 rounds. Furthermore, as the season advances, Atalanta’s performance continues to improve, with victories in eight out of their last nine matches across all competitions.
AC Milan vs Atalanta pick: Over 2.5 goals
AC Milan, having scored 49 goals in 25 rounds of Serie A, are the league’s second most potent offensive team, surpassed only by Inter. Nevertheless, their defensive performance has been less impressive, particularly in the last two matches where they conceded six goals against Monza and Rennes. Generally, AC Milan’s recent matches have seen a lot of goals, with more than 2.5 goals in 10 out of their last 11 games!
Atalanta is showcasing a stellar performance, having secured victories in six consecutive matches and netting 19 goals, an average of 3.17 per game. Their superior offensive prowess has led to them scoring over 2.5 goals in five out of these six matches.
Atalanta and these teams have clashed twice this season, with Atalanta securing a 3:2 victory at home and a 2:1 win away during the Cup. Given these outcomes and previous head-to-head matches, it’s anticipated that the upcoming game will yield a minimum of three goals, with a strong likelihood of both teams scoring.

AC Milan team news
Luka Jovic, a backup striker, was given a direct red card in the previous Serie A match against Monza and will be serving his suspension.
Davide Calabria, Mattia Caldara, and Tommaso Pobega will continue to be sidelined due to injuries. Meanwhile, Fikayo Tomori and Piere Kalulu have begun training with the team, although their status remains uncertain. However, given the significant amount of time they’ve missed due to injuries, it’s unlikely we’ll see them in the starting lineup in the near future.

Atalanta team news
The team’s top offensive player, Ademola Lookman, was absent from the previous match against Sassuolo because of an ankle sprain he got during the African Cup of Nations. However, the Nigerian forward is expected to be fit for the AC Milan match, as per Italian media reports.
Apart from Lookman, whose availability is uncertain, Jose Luis Palomino will be the only other absentee from the team due to injury. Palomino has had limited playing time this season, as he has been persistently plagued by injuries.
