- Date: Sunday, 17th March 2024
- Kickoff: 20:00 UTC / 21:00 CET
- Venue: Metropolitano Stadium (Madrid)
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, both victors over Italian teams in the Champions League Quarter Finals, will meet in the 29th round of La Liga. The match will be held at Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
Atletico Madrid claimed their most recent La Liga title in the 2020/21 season. However, their road record this year has been less than impressive, putting their chances at the title in jeopardy. Had they performed slightly better on the road, they would have been a serious contender for the title. Their poor away performance has even raised doubts about their chances of finishing in the top four. Currently, they stand fourth with 55 points, but Bilbao is hot on their heels, trailing by only two points. Yet, hope remains, as a potential victory against 3rd-placed Barcelona could narrow the gap to a mere three-point difference.
Barcelona won the La Liga title last year but had a poor performance in the Champions League, not even making it to the knockout stage. This year, the situation has reversed for the Catalan team. They are performing well in the Champions League but are currently struggling in La Liga, sitting in third place and already trailing the top team, Real Madrid, by eight points. While an eight-point gap might not seem substantial, Barcelona faces a challenging schedule for the rest of the season.
Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona pick: Both teams to score
Atletico Madrid has demonstrated exceptional performance at the Metropolitano Stadium in La Liga, claiming victory in 13 out of 14 games. In other contests, they only failed to net a goal in one out of 20 matches. There’s no question about their capability to score a minimum of one goal against any team globally on their home turf.
Barcelona is enjoying a strong run of form, remaining unbeaten in their last nine games across all competitions. During this nine-game period, Barcelona managed to score at least one goal in eight of these games. Furthermore, in recent away games, both teams have managed to score in 12 out of 13 of Barcelona’s matches in all competitions.
Taking into account all the aforementioned factors, we are of the opinion that both teams should score in this La Liga match.
