- Competition: FA Cup, Quarter Finals
- Date: Saturday, 16th March 2024
- Kickoff: 12:15 UK / 13:15 CET
- Venue: Molineux Stadium (Wolverhampton)
The Premier League team, Wolves, will host Championship side, Coventry, at the Molineux Stadium in the FA Cup Quarter Finals on Saturday, the 16th.
In the Premier League, Wolves have established themselves as a steady team, consistently finishing between 7th and 13th place in the last five seasons. This year, they are delivering a commendable performance in both the league and the FA Cup. Presently, they are on track for another mid-table finish in the league, holding 9th place with 41 points over 28 rounds. In the FA Cup, despite encountering tough competition from teams like Brentford, WBA, and Brighton, Wolves have managed to push through. However, they fell short in the Carabao Cup, suffering a defeat by Ipswich in the 1/16 Finals.
Coventry has been continuously improving, given that they were in League Two just a few seasons earlier. Last year, they nearly clinched the promotion, but were stopped by Luton in the Finals. This year, however, the Sky Blues aren’t performing as well, currently ranking 8th with 57 points. Nevertheless, they are only a point away from the playoffs. In the FA Cup, they surprisingly made it to this stage, but it’s only fair to mention that they had a relatively easy journey, only facing Championship sides.
Wolverhampton vs Coventry City pick: Wolves to win and cover the -1 AH spread
The Wolves are performing exceptionally well, securing victories in four out of their last five matches, including wins against formidable teams like Tottenham, Brighton, and Fulham. Additionally, their home game performance has been impressive throughout the season, with ten victories out of 17 matches, mostly against teams superior to their upcoming opponent, Coventry.
Coventry’s performance this season has been mediocre at best. Their performance against the top six teams in the Championship has been particularly disappointing. Out of the nine games they played against these teams, they managed to secure only six points, which averages to 0.67 points per game. Given their struggle against Championship’s top teams, it’s difficult to anticipate a favourable outcome in their away game against Wolves.
We firmly believe that Wolves, being the superior team, should easily secure a win at Molineux Stadium.
