Barcelona is set to create a charged atmosphere for their crucial UCL clash and has a temporary chance to jump to second place in LaLiga standings when they meet Mallorca at Estadi de Montjuic on Friday.
Barcelona vs Mallorca Betting Tips: AH2 (+1.5)
A day following Real Madrid’s dramatic 2-2 draw at Valencia’s Mestalla, which allowed them to save a point, Barcelona missed an opportunity to tighten the title race and reduce their arch-rivals’ lead to six points. This happened as they were compelled to accept a scoreless draw during a challenging visit to Athletic Bilbao.
Despite experiencing another setback in their pursuit to retain the LaLiga title, Barcelona left the Basque club with worries, as two new players- Pedri and Frenkie de Jong- joined the injury list at the most untimely moment, just before their critical second-leg Champions League match against Napoli.
Xavi’s team is working hard to gain momentum before their impending match against the Scudetto holders. However, their task is not simple, given Barcelona’s recent underwhelming performances at home. They have only emerged victorious in three of their last six LaLiga games, and have conceded a worrying 14 goals during these matches.
Mallorca, the team that ended February with a splendid performance, is off to Catalonia this weekend. Their triumphant penalty shootout victory over Real Socidad in the Copa del Rey, their first in 21 years, puts them in contention for the trophy. The team continued their winning streak into March with an impressive 1-0 victory against Girona, who are second in the league.
Even though they faced several tough weeks, the team led by Javier Aguirre effectively handled all challenges and improved their performance. They only lost once in their last six competitive games, and this happened to be against the Basque team on February 18 during their LaLiga match.
Los Piratas can be a bit more relaxed about relegation worries, as they are eight points ahead of Kadiz, who are third-from-bottom. However, their away performances this season have been a source of concern. In their first 13 LaLiga away games, they’ve only managed to secure maximum points once, leaving them seeking a victory in 10 of these matches.
However, it should be noted that their recent hosts have found it tough to overcome them in a more convincing fashion, holding Madrid rivals Atletico and Real to narrow 0-1 defeats, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise if they employ the same strategy on Friday to stifle the Catalan outfit’s attack, just as they did in their first meeting of the season when they drew 2-2 on the Balearic Islands. As a matter of fact, Mallorca has only suffered defeat by a margin of two or more goals against Barça once in their last five head-to-head meetings, hinting that another slight victory for the Catalans might be on the cards.

Barcelona team news
As previously mentioned, the pivotal midfield duo of Pedri and Frenkie de Jong were forced off in the first half during last week’s visit to Athletic Bilbao’s San Mames, with both of them facing at least a month-long recovery period from ankle and hamstring injuries.
Ahead of the Majorka clash slated for Friday, Barca boss Xavi will be without the Uruguayan defensive pillar Ronald Araujo, who picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against the Basque outfit, resulting in a one-match suspension.

Mallorca team news
Unlike their Friday hosts, the Balearic outfit travels to the Catalan city without much concern about absences, and Pablo Maffeo could soon make a return to the pitch after successfully overcoming a knee injury sustained in mid-January.
However, Mexican tactician Javier Aguirre will be without the services of Omar Mascarell against Barcelona, as the seasoned midfielder has picked up a one-match ban after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season in the commendable 1-0 triumph over Girona last time out.
