Cadiz have predominantly struggled against relegation since joining the Spanish top-flight division, with this season being no exception. Indeed, many feel that this is their worst season since their return to La Liga. The Andalusian team currently sits in 18th place with 19 points from 27 matches, five points shy of the safe zone. Despite an attempt to reverse their poor performance by changing coaches, there has been little to no improvement in their results.
Atletico Madrid clinched their latest La Liga title in the 2020/21 season. Subsequently, they had two comparable seasons where they ended up in third place, trailing behind Real Madrid and Barcelona. They performed well in all competitions this year, but a poor spell in February might have severe repercussions. During this period, the beloved Colchoneros lost points in La Liga, were eliminated from the Copa del Rey by Bilbao, and suffered a 1:0 defeat to Inter in the first leg of the Champions League 1/8 Finals. Regardless, Atletico Madrid currently holds the 4th position in La Liga with 55 points and is on track to secure another top-four finish. While this may not satisfy the Madridians, it could be a silver lining.
Cadiz vs Atletico Madrid pick: Both teams to score
Cadiz have been struggling offensively in the league, having scored just 18 goals in 27 rounds, making them the weakest offensive team. But, their performance in the recent matches against Celta Vigo and Rayo Vallecano saw them netting three goals and creating several scoring opportunities &— a significant improvement from their season-long problem. Therefore, we believe they could carry on with their improved offensive performance when they face Coloncheros, who have been underwhelming in their defensive play in recent games.
Atletico, having scored 54 goals in 27 rounds, is one of the top offensive teams in the league and should have no issues scoring against other teams. However, their recent defensive performance has been disappointing, with only one clean sheet in their last nine games.
Despite Cadiz not being a team known for scoring or conceding many goals, their matches against Atletico Madrid tend to be high-scoring affairs with both teams making goals. This has been the trend in the last eight head-to-head games! Taking into account these past head-to-head games and the aforementioned pattern, we anticipate both teams to score in this upcoming La Liga match.

Following a 1:1 draw against Rayo Vallecano, Coach Mauricio Pellegrino addressed the press. He expressed disappointment, stating that a single point is insufficient for them. However, he remained optimistic, saying that with continued effort, victory is within their grasp. Pellegrino also emphasized the need for offensive improvement and a swift win.
Fali, Fede San Emeterio, Luis Hernandez, Roger Marti, and Joseba Zaldua, who missed the previous games due to injuries, should continue to stay sidelined.

Atletico Madrid team news
Antoine Griezmann, a key player for the team, has been absent from the last three games due to an ankle injury. While he is nearing his return, it’s highly unlikely that he will participate in the upcoming match. Coach Diego Simeone is expected to allow him ample time to completely recover, especially for the impending Inter game.
In addition to Griezmann, Cesar Azpilicueta, Jose Gimenez, Thomas Lemar, and Vitolo are expected to stay on the sidelines due to their injuries.
In the second leg of the UCL 1/8 Finals, Atletico Madrid will play against Inter, four days after their game with Cadiz. Coach Diego Simeone might consider giving some of the key players a rest.
