This weekend, the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Africa continue with Sierra Leone hosting Egypt’s Pharaohs in a Group A match on Sunday evening.
Sierra Leone is competing in the World Cup Qualifiers group stage for the first time since 2013, where they secured third place in Group B. Despite entering their opening match against Ethiopia as underdogs during the middle of the week, the Leone Stars managed to secure a point after a no-score draw. Considering the Ethiopians have successfully avoided defeat in their previous two encounters with Egypt, they are optimistic about gaining something from the game this weekend.
The Egyptians, having recently secured a spot in AFCON 2023 in Côte d’Ivoire, are setting their sights on qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the fourth time. After demolishing Djibouti 6:0 in a midweek Group A World Cup qualifier match, the Pharaohs have extended their competitive winning streak to five matches. Mohamed Salah led the scoring spree with four goals, while Mostafa Mohamed and Trezeguet contributed the remaining two.
Sierra Leone vs Egypt Betting Tips: Egypt to win & under 2.5 goals
Sierra Leone has demonstrated resilience in recent matches following a disappointing AFCON qualifying campaign where they managed only a single victory. Going into this weekend’s match, the Leone Stars are on a three-game undefeated run and have not conceded any goals in their last two matches. Each of these three games concluded with no more than two goals scored.
Egypt kicked off the campaign by netting six goals, a rare occurrence as the Pharaohs have only managed to score more than two goals in two out of their last eighteen competitive games. Only three of these matches concluded with more than 2.5 goals.

Sierra Leone team news
Following an impressive defensive performance in the draw against Ethiopia, Sierra Leone’s head coach Amidu Karim likely sees no need to alter his back line.
Emmanuel Samadia, Mohamed Kabia, Abdul Jarju Kabia, and Osman Kakay will maintain their defensive positions, while Alusine Pagal Koroma and Alpha Bedor Conteh aim to play in the midfield.
